Tigers add Cordova's Tyler Harris to signing class

With latest addition, Hardaway has top two local prospects
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- University of Memphis first-year basketball coach Penny Hardaway announced Friday the addition of another top local prospect to his initial recruiting class.
The Tigers added Cordova High point guard Tyler Harris, one of the top scorers in Memphis high school basketball history and a 30.3 scorer during the 2017-18 season.
His addition follows the announcement Thursday that East High guard Alex Lomax and IMG Academy shooting guard Jayden Hardaway, the coach's son, signed with the Tigers.

Harris won the 2018 Class AAA Mr. Basketball Award. . . . He led the city in scoring by averaging 30.3 points per game. He also averaged 6.1 assists. . . . The four-star recruit is ranked among the top 150 players in the country. . . Harris was a first-team all-state pick by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association and a finalist for Commercial Appeal Player of the Year. . . . The leading scorer in Cordova High history, he is one of only 12 players in Memphis high school basketball to score more than 2,500 career points. His 2,647 career points ranked 11th all-time . . . He led Cordova to a 23-8 record during the 2017-18 season and a trip to the state sectionals. . . . He was the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year in 2017 and an all-state selection in 2016, 2017 and 2018. . . . Harris was selected the District 14-AAA Player of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2018. . . . He is a 2018 McDonald's All-American nominee. . . . Coupled with the signing of Alex Lomax, he gives the Tigers and Hardaway's first recruiting class the top two ranked prep players in the city.
