Watson tabbed league player of the week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following a pair of singles wins last week, including a league victory, senior Andrew Watson has been named the American Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Watson turned in a pair of straight-set wins at the No. 2 position, as the Tigers split road matches in Texas.
Despite dropping a doubles match to Baylor's fifth-ranked duo, Watson turned in a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set win against the Bears' Matias Soto to start the weekend.
Watson continued the momentum with a conference win on Sunday afternoon in the Tigers' 4-1 triumph at SMU. The Great Britain native swept his opening set against the Mustangs' Charles Nettlefold and cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win to improve his singles record to 6-3 this season.
Tuesday's recognition marks the first time this season Watson has been named player of the week and second time in his career, previously garnering the accolade on March 7 of last season. Watson was also tabbed the league's player of the month in September 2015 and October 2014.
