Tigers sweep Jackson State for ninth straight win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – No. 16/20 Memphis men's tennis extended its win streak to nine matches with a 7-0 sweep against Jackson State on Friday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Memphis.

The streak is tied for seventh-best in program history as Memphis (14-4, 2-0) improved to 4-1 in home matches.

Memphis swept the doubles point with wins on courts 2 and 3, and then used the momentum to turn in six straight-set singles wins to complete the sweep.

Junior Chris Patzanovsky was first off the court in singles with a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Sophomore Matt Story followed by notching his first singles win in dual match play, while senior Kai Lemke provided the clinch for the Tigers shortly after at the top spot.

Junior Felix Rauch extended the Tigers' lead to 5-0 with a victory on court 3 for his fifth win of the spring. Sophomores Turner Voges and Jan Pallares capped the day for the Tigers with wins at the 5 and 4 spot.

The wins by Lemke (7), Pallares (7), Patzanovsky (2) and Voges (2) also extended individual win streaks in singles play.

Memphis continues it home stand with a pair of conference matches next weekend. The Tigers will host USF on Friday at 2 p.m. before closing the weekend with a Sunday match against No. 36 UCF at noon. Admission to all U of M home matches is free.
