Track And Field Wins Five Titles At Bulldog Relays Friday

Action at the Mississippi State meet continues Saturday.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Five Tigers took home titles to lead the University of Memphis track and field squads in first-day action at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays Friday. Mississippi State is hosting the two-day meet that continues Saturday.
Brock Ballard and Ryan Champlin posted first-place finishes on the men's side. For the Tigers women's team, Saida Burns-Moore, Ashley Pryke and Martina Rodriguez Sala won event crowns Friday.
Overall, Memphis had 15 top-three performances, including a 1-2-3 sweep in the women's javelin.

Tigers Tidbits/Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays Friday Highlights
- Saida Burns-Moore won the women's triple jump with a personal-best leap of 40-5 (12.32m). The mark surpassed her previous outdoor personal-best by two feet.
- Burns-Moore's outdoor triple jump crown was her first at Memphis and her third career title in the event. She won two triple jump titles in her time at the University of the District of Columbia.
- Brock Ballard won the men's 1500 meters in a personal-best time of 3:49.20. The time shaved four seconds off his previous-best.
- Ballard's 1500-meters title was the second in the event for his career. He won the outdoor 1500-meters crown at the 2017 Arkansas State Red Wolves Open.
- Ashley Pryke won the 11th women's javelin title of her career Friday. The javelin crown was her ninth-straight, regular-season first-place performance.
- Ryan Champlin won the men's 400 meters in a personal-best time of 46.91.
- DeeNia McMiller threw a personal-best in the women's hammer. She improved her personal-best mark by four feet.
- Matthew Viveiros improved his personal-best in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:51.46 Friday. He shaved nearly three seconds off his previous-best.
- Mona Jaidi threw a personal-best in the women's javelin.
- Jarred Pasley placed second in the men's 400 meters (46.97). His time was his best at Memphis. A transfer from Southeast Missouri, he ran a personal-best 46.79 as a Redhawk.
