Senior earns second honor of the season
MEMPHIS – Senior women's golfer Emily Goldenstein earned her second American Athletic Conference golfer of the week honor on Wednesday after posting her second consecutive top five finish at the 3M Augusta Invitational on Sunday.
Goldenstein finished in a tie for third at the event at Forest Hills Golf Club over the weekend. She fired a 212 to finish just four strokes off the individual lead and helped Memphis finish tied for fifth overall. That top five finish marked the first back-to-back top five finishes of Goldenstein's career at Memphis.
The senior and her teammates will use the rest of the month of March to prepare for their final regular season event, Apr. 2-3, at the Charleston Invitational in South Carolina. The team will then head back to Florida to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championships, Apr. 15-17.
This is the third career weekly honor for Goldenstein and her second this year. She also earned the weekly award on Mar. 8th after finishing as runner-up at the River Landing Classic. With Goldenstein's second weekly award, Memphis has now won AAC women's golfer of the week honors three times this spring. Junior teammate Madison Thomas, who also posted a top 10 finish at the Augusta Invitational, earned the weekly honor on Feb. 21.
