Women’s Golf Remains Fifth at 3M Augusta Invitational

Goldenstein remains fourth, three strokes off the lead.
MEMPHIS – The Memphis women's golf team remains in fifth place following the second day of competition at the 3M Augusta Invitational, Saturday. A 30-minute rain delay postponed the start of the morning's competition, but Memphis matched its day one 296 on Saturday to remain fifth with a 36-hole score of 592.
Senior Emily Goldenstein also remains where she was following the completion of day one. Goldenstein carded a 71 in Saturday's second round and the one under round has her tied for fourth overall at 141 (-3).
Madison Thomas made a move into the top 10 with a second round 71 as well. Her 144 has her tied for 10th overall, a three-spot promotion from Friday's opening round.
Sydney Colwill will head into Sunday's final round coming off a second round 79. At 153, she is tied for 40th overall in the field. Teammate Michaela Fletcher shaved five strokes off her Friday round, carding a 75 to improve 10 spots in the standings to a tie for 54th overall.
Freshman Julia Matzat followed her opening round 79 with a second round 84 for a 36-hole score of 163.
Georgia's Jillian Hollis lead the field at 139 following a day two 73. Virginia Tech's Amanda Hollandsworth and Central Arkansas' Fernanda Lira are one stroke back at 140. Purdue's Micaela Farah is tied with Goldenstein for fourth overall at 141, two strokes off the tournament lead.
With three players in the top 20, Georgia leads the competition with a 573. Purdue is 11 strokes back at 584, while host Augusta moved up to third with a 586. Two strokes back and three strokes ahead of Memphis is Central Arkansas in fourth place.
