Box Score
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Despite a strong start to the day, the Memphis women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Cincinnati Thursday afternoon.
The Tigers (3-3) built an early 2-0 lead, but the Bearcats took the final five singles matches to claim the win.
Memphis opened the day winning the doubles point with wins on courts 2 and 3. After dropping the first doubles match, duo Claire Sullivan and Josephine Cao evened the point with a 6-2 win. Tiger tandem Hanna Sohn and Katherine Cao continued their impressive play and got the Tigers on the board with a 6-3 victory.
In singles, senior Anki Wind was first off the court with a straight set victory at the No. 3 spot. The Germany native improved her singles record in dual match play to 4-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
The two-point Tiger lead wouldn't be enough, however, as Cincinnati (6-2) rallied to take the remaining matches and stormed back for the 5-2 nod.
The Tigers seek to rebound Saturday at Miami (OH) with first serve set for 11:30 a.m. (CT). Saturday's match will be the third meeting between the programs, with the Tigers and Redhawks splitting the previous two matchups.
