Goldenstein Moves to Top 10 at UCF Challenge

Senior is one of seven players to card a round of 70 or lower on day two.
MEMPHIS – Senior Emily Goldenstein fired a second round 70 to move in to a tie in the top 10 at the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club, Monday. With her -2 second round score, Goldenstein jumped 24 spots in the individual standing and is now just three strokes out of a top five spot in the challenging collegiate field.
Starting on hole seven, Goldenstein birdied four of her first seven holes for a quick start to the morning. She would birdie twice in her final nine holes, offsetting two bogeys, and closed the day -2, one of seven players to shoot 70 or under in the 90-player field. One of the individual leaders Dewi Weber of Miami, the 24th ranked player in the country, carded the low round of the day, firing a 66 to move in to a tie for first with UCF's Kaeli Jones at the end of day two.
As a team, Memphis remains in a tie for eighth after Monday's 294. At 594 through 36 holes, Memphis trails Auburn by just two strokes and is just five strokes off a three way tie for fourth at 589 (UCF, East Carolina, Vanderbilt).
Sydney Colwill shot a 76 on day two to fall in to a tie for 17th at 147. Michaela Fletcher shaved two strokes off her first round score, carding a 74 and is tied for 35th at 150 following two rounds.
Abby Herrmann jumped 11 spots in the standings, following Sunday's 80 with a 74 on Monday. Her 154 now has her tied for 65th overall.
Madison Thomas almost matched her opening round, scoring a 78 on Monday. Thomas' 155 has her tied for 69th overall.
Miami took over the team lead with a 285 on day two. The Hurricanes now hold a four stroke lead over Wisconsin (584) and a seven stroke lead over Iowa State (587). UCF, East Carolina and Vanderbilt are all tied at 589, just two strokes ahead of Memphis and SMU.
The final round tees off at 8:45 am (ET), Tuesday, and Memphis will be paired with golfers from Auburn and SMU and will go off holes 7-9.
