Davenport earns spot on AAC honor roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis junior forward Kyvon Davenport was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday for his play in games last week against USF and East Carolina.

Davenport earned his first weekly recognition from the conference following back-to-back double-doubles.

Davenport scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in an 86-74 victory at USF Jan. 31 in Tampa. Davenport also finished with two steals, two blocks and two assists in leading the Tigers' to their second league road win. Of his 11 rebounds, seven were on the offensive end.

In the U of M's 88-85 overtime loss at ECU Saturday, Davenport had 16 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to two blocks and two steals. Davenport's free throw in the closing seconds of regulation forced overtime.

For the season, Davenport boosted his total of double-doubles to six.

Memphis returns home Tuesday night to play host to Wichita State at FedExForum.
