Three Tigers Earn All-League Honors Friday

McMiller leads the way with a school record in women's weight throw.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Memphis' Noah Agnew, DeeNia McMiller and Luke Vaughn earned all-league honors in first-day action at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Friday.
The two-day conference meet continues Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex. The action begins at 9 a.m. (CT).
Agnew (men's high jump) and McMiller (women's weight throw) were the Tigers' highest finishers with both taking silvers (second place) in their events. Vaughn earned bronze (third place) in the men's weight throw.
In earning her silver, McMiller set a school record in the women's weight throw with a mark of 65-3.25 (19.89m). Former Tigers All-America Gail Lee held the previous program record in the women's weight throw. Lee's 65-2.25 (19.87m) weight throw had been the record since 2007.

Tigers Tidbits/The American Championships Day 1 Highlights
- Freshman DeeNia McMiller is competing in her first American Athletic Conference Championships and earned her first all-league nod in her first event.
- McMiller's 65-3.25 (19.89m) throw surpassed her previous-best by over two feet.
- McMiller's school record is the fourth for the Tigers (men/women combined) in 2017-18. Cera Chavez set the women's school marks in the 60 and 200 meters, and the men's 4x400 meter relay re-set its school record three times this season.
- Sophomore Noah Agnew competed in his second conference indoor championships meet and improved his mark by two inches (6-7 to 6-9) and his finish (5th to 2nd). The all-conference honor was the first of his career. Agnew's 6-9 (2.06m) jump is a personal-best.
- Graduate student Luke Vaughn won his second all-conference indoor accolade in the men's weight throw. Vaughn was second in the event at the 2015 indoor championships meet.
- Vaughn's 64-0.25 (19.51m) mark Friday is a personal-best toss. The mark surpassed his previous-best by over eight inches set at last year's league indoor championships.
- Junior Davon DeMoss and freshman Andrew Bishop advanced to Saturday's finals in both the men's 60 and 200 meters. Bishop set personal-bests in both events (6.76/60m; 21.39/200m). Freshman Calvin Austin advanced to the 200-meters final in a personal-best time of 21.32 seconds.
- Senior ToNaya Gulley moved on to Saturday's final in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.56 seconds in the event's preliminaries Friday.
- Sophomore Paige Sandwell improved her personal-best time in the women's mile preliminaries by three seconds. She advanced to Saturday's mile final with a time of 5:00.51.
- Senior Brock Ballard shaved nearly two seconds off his mile time (4:12.14) in the event's preliminaries Friday. He advanced to the men's mile final Saturday.
- Freshman Paris Perkins (56.53 seconds) and senior Jasmine Taylor (59.45) both set personal-bests in the women's 400-meters preliminaries. Perkins advanced to Saturday's final in the event.
