EIU grabbed an early lead after a leadoff double started the game for the Panthers. The runner moved to third on a groundout and scored on an RBI single.
The Tigers got the run right back though in the bottom of the first, after starting the game with three-straight hits. Colton Neel doubled, Alec Trela singled and Kyle Ouellette drove in the run with an RBI single up the middle.
Memphis would be held down from that point though, finishing with just five more hits the rest of the way.
The Panthers retook the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth inning and that was all they needed.
James Muse, Alex Smith, Takoda Metoxen and Hunter Smith combined to pitched the final 4 1/3 innings of the game. The quartet kept EIU off the board during that stretch.
