Rifle Posts Second-Highest Aggregate Of Season

Hickerson leads the way with career-high match.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – A week after sophomore Amberlie Ezell had a career-best performance, freshman Adriana Hickerson had her career match in the University of Memphis' rifle match against No. 3 Kentucky. The Tigers faced the Wildcats in a tri-match with North Georgia.
Kentucky won the match 4686-4650 over Memphis, but the Tigers posted their second-highest aggregate of the 2017-18 campaign. North Georgia was third at 4599.
Hickerson tied her career-best air rifle score with a 593, as she also posted the same mark in the discipline versus Nebraska Oct. 29. The White Bluff, Tenn., native recorded career-bests in smallbore (564) and aggregate (1157). Her previous-bests were 556 in smallbore versus West Virginia Nov. 11 and 1141 aggregate at Jacksonville State's Gamecock Invitational Nov. 19.

- The Tigers' 4650 aggregate versus No. 3 Kentucky was the team's second-best of the season. Memphis shot a 4663 aggregate against No. 2 TCU Oct. 28. Memphis shot a 4646 at the Jan. 20 Withrow Invitational that included No. 3 Kentucky and No. 4 Murray State.
- The Tigers placed five shooters among the top-10 aggregate scorers.
- The match at Kentucky was the first time this season the Tigers had four shooters with aggregates of 1160 or higher (Leighton Dempster, 1164; Amberlie Ezell, 1161; Levi Clark, 1160; Matt Dorey, 1160).
- A week after shooting her best marks in smallbore and aggregate, sophomore Amberlie Ezell tied her career-best with a 589 air rifle score versus the Wildcats. She shot a 589 twice in the 2016-17 season.
- Ezell also posted an aggregate of over 1160 for a second-straight match. She shot a 1161 (572-589). It is the first time in her career she shot 1160 or better in consecutive matches (1169 at Jan. 20 Withrow Invitational).
- Junior Leighton Dempster posted the Tigers' top aggregate score of 1164 (575-589) and placed fifth overall. It was the second-straight match Dempster shot a 1164 aggregate, and the 1164 aggregate is tied for the fourth-best of her career.
- Sophomore Levi Clark shot a 1160 or higher aggregate for the first time since Oct. 29 versus Nebraska (1162).
- Freshman Matt Dorey shot a 1160 (572-588) aggregate versus Kentucky. His 588 air rifle score was his best of the season. His 1160 aggregate was his second-best total of 2017-18.
