Rachel Ashworth Shepard Named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Goalkeeper Rachel Ashworth Shepard has been named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week while Mikayla Morton was named to the Weekly Honor Roll following a 1-0-1 weekend to open conference play as announced by the AAC Monday morning.

Ashworth Shepard helped lead the Tigers to the undefeated record to open conference play, highlighted by a career-high 14 saves in the double-overtime tie to SMU. Ashworth Shepard finished with a 1.42 goals against average and .842 save percentage in just over 190 minutes this weekend.

Morton scored the game-tying penalty kick goal against Houston Sunday afternoon and tallied two assists in the tie against SMU. Her four points this weekend led Memphis. Morton now has six goals on the year and is a perfect 2-for-2 in penalty kicks.
