Chris Mikus Tabbed As AAC Rookie of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis redshirt-freshman Chris Mikus has been named the American Athletic Conference men's soccer Rookie of the Week this week while Ben Roberts earned Weekly Honor Roll status as announced by the AAC Monday afternoon.

This is the first time that Mikus and Roberts have been recognized by the AAC for their on-field achievements.

Both players helped lead the Tigers to a 3-1 come from behind victory Saturday evening to open AAC play with a perfect 1-0 record. Mikus scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 61^st minute to help lift the Tigers to victory. It was his first collegiate goal.

Roberts' goal, also his first collegiate goal at Memphis, was the game-tying goal against the Bearcats. After notching the equalizer in the 59^th minute, Roberts played a crucial role on the backline by holding Cincinnati scoreless for the remainder of the match.

Memphis continues play Monday evening with a non-conference match against Northern Kentucky. The contest is slated for a 5 p.m. kick and will broadcast on ESPN3.
