Story and Lemke Advance to Consolation Championships Saturday

MEMPHIS – Senior Kai Lemke and redshirt sophomore Matt Story advanced to the consolation championships of their respective singles brackets, Saturday.
Lemke advanced to the final of the Crimson draw with a 7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-6 (4) victory over Notre Dame's Paul Goda and will face Alabama's Alexey Nesterov, Sunday at 9 a.m.
In the same draw, Oklahoma's Jochen Bertsch came back from a 7-6 (4) first set loss to Jan Pallares to win sets two and three, 6-4, 6-3. Pallares will now face Rice's Eric Rutledge at 9 am Sunday.
In the Houndstooth Draw, Matt Story defeated Notre Dame's Conor Somers, 6-1, 7-5, to advance to a Sunday consolation final against Illinois' Vukk Budic.
In doubles play, both Memphis entries won their semifinal matches, but fell in the championship finals. Lemke and Story defeaeted Alabama's Ortiz and Nesterov, 8-2, but were edged in the final by the Mississippi State team of Broska and Foshey, 8-7 (4).
In the Houndstooth draw, the team of Pallares and Voges won their morning match 8-5 over the Notre Dame team of Rayl and Somers, but were edged 8-6 in the final by Florida State's Gracia and Wood.
The event will wrap on Sunday with singles play at 9 a.m.
