Lemke Wins Consolation Title at Alabama

MEMPHIS – Senior men's tennis player Kai Lemke used a straight set win over Alabama's Alexey Nesterov to claim the consolation singles title in the Crimson draw, Sunday. The win on Sunday pushes Lemke's record to 3-1 following the first event of the fall. On Saturday, Lemke had also teamed with Matt Story to advance to the Crimson doubles final, where the duo was edged 8-7 (4).
Story had also advanced to a consolation final on Sunday, this one in the Houndstooth Draw. The redshirt sophomore won the first set 6-4 from Illinois' Vuk Budic, but fell 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the second and third sets.
Also in the Houndstooth Draw, Turner Voges defeated Notre Dame's Conor Somers, 6-3, 6-3, while teammate Jan Pallares fell 6-2, 6-2 to Rice's Eric Rutledge in his final match of the event.
Memphis will be back in action next at the ITA All-American, hosted by Tulsa beginning Sept. 30th.
