Tigers Volleyball To Hold Scrimmage Saturday

Event is open to public, youth clinic to follow scrimmage.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 2017 season opener is a week away, and the University of Memphis volleyball squad goes into "match-mode" mindset with its annual Blue-Gray scrimmage Saturday. The scrimmage begins at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
The scrimmage is free and open to the public. A clinic for youth ages eighth grade and under is scheduled after the scrimmage.
Saturday's scrimmage wraps up the second week of preseason drills, as the Tigers turn the page to match-week practice Monday with their season opener Aug. 25.

Head coach April Jauregui comments on practice/scrimmage
"I feel really good (where we are). We've made good progress in our preseason, and our players are ready to play in a match-like setting. Unfortunately, due to NCAA regulations, we can't hold preseason exhibitions, so we want to have a great environment tomorrow with lots of fans and try to simulate a match-like 'feel' before we hit the road Thursday (season opener Friday).
"As a coaching staff, we want to see execution on both sides and also see the development of our system. Saturday's scrimmage is not going to have non-starters playing starters because those decisions are still to be made. This scrimmage will help in making those decisions, so we want to see some players step up and start to separate themselves."
