Three Women’s Golfers Earn Academic Honor

MEMPHIS – Three members of the Memphis women's golf team were named Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, Thursday. Leighann Cabush, Sydney Colwill and Emily Goldenstein each earned the academic honors after posting a GPA above a 3.50 during the 2016-17 academic year. Across the country and across all-levels of college golf, a total of 952 women's golfers were recognized by the coaches association.
Cabush, who graduated from the University of Memphis in May, is an honoree on the list for a third time, as is Goldenstein, who will be one of two seniors on the 2017-18 roster. Colwill, who recently posted a runner-up finish in the Tennessee Women's Amateur Championship, will be a junior this coming season, is earning her second consecutive All-American Scholar honor.
In total, 29 women's golfers from the American Athletic Conference earned the academic honor. East Carolina led all teams with six honorees, while new member Wichita State had four honorees. Houston, Cincinnati and Memphis all had three honorees.
