Tigers senior wide receiver set several school game, season records in 2016
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Memphis senior wide receiver Anthony Miller has been named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Tuesday. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes college football's most outstanding receiver.
The Biletnikoff Award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators and former receivers. The group added Miller to its watch list at mid-season in 2016.
Miller is one of seven receivers from the American Athletic Conference on the Biletnikoff Award watch list.
Miller put together the best season by a receiver in program history in 2016. He set school season marks for receptions (95), yards (1,434) and touchdown receptions (14), shattering the records held by former Tigers and NFL great Isaac Bruce. Miller and Bruce are the only two receivers to post 1,000-yard receiving seasons in program history.
The local Christian Brothers High School product posted eight 100-yard receiving games, including a school-record, 250-yard performance against Tulsa. Miller went over the 100-yard receiving mark in six of the season's final seven games. In the win over No. 18/21 nationally-ranked Houston in the 2016 regular-season finale, Miller's 15 catches set a school single-game record. The last of his record-setting 15 receptions versus the Cougars was the biggest of the game, a 10-yard touchdown catch with :19 remaining to give Memphis a 48-44 victory.
Miller finished 2016 ranked among the top-10 at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level in receiving yards (9th), receiving yards per game (9th) and touchdown receptions (9th). He also ranked in the top-five in The American in every receiving statistical category.
The Memphis, Tenn., native rolled up 1,600 all-purpose yards (69 rush/1,434 receive/97 punt return) last season. The 1,600 all-purpose yards are the fourth-most for a season in program history, and the top three spots on that list are held by former All-American DeAngelo Williams.
For his career, Miller has 142 receptions for 2,128 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. Entering the 2017 campaign, his name appears on the Memphis career charts for receptions (4th), receiving yards (3rd) and touchdown catches (2nd).
The 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live Dec. 7 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast 7-9 p.m. (ET) on ESPN. College Football Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard will present the 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show.

Memphis is inching closer towards the start of the 2017 preseason camp. The team reports to campus July 27, with the first practice scheduled the following day.
The Tigers open their 2017 season with a special Labor Day weekend/Thursday night game against Louisiana-Monroe Aug. 31. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (CT) at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
