Chris Carrier Named National Player of the Month

Memphis senior outfielder Chris Carrier has been tabbed as the Player of the Month for May by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Carrier had an elite month in May for the Memphis Tigers. A first-team All-American Athletic Conference first-team honoree in 2017, Carrier slugged eight homers over 14 games in May, driving in 23 runs and hitting .421 (24-for-57) with five doubles and a .529 on-base percentage.

On the year, Carrier finished his final collegiate season with a .330 average (68-for-206) with 16 doubles, 16 homers and 50 RBI, sporting a .438 on-base and a .641 slugging percentage. Carrier ended his career riding a 21-game hitting streak, the longest of his career.
This marks the second season the NCBWA has honored a national player and pitcher of the month.
