Fletcher Closes First Round at NCAA Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Michaela Fletcher carded a first round 80 (+8) in the first round of play at the NCAA Columbus Regional in chilly and windy conditions that forced a frost delay to start the morning. She is currently tied for 52nd following the first round.
Fletcher bogeyed her first two holes and hit the turn at four over. She then bogeyed four more holes on the back side, where she will start her second round on Tuesday. She will tee off of 10 at 8:15 am (ET), Tuesday while playing with fellow individual qualifiers, Kate Smith of Nebraska and Emie Peronnin of Minnesota.
Purdue's Marta Martin Garcia carded the lone round below par on day one of the event, finishing at 70 to lead the field. Wisconsin's Gabby Curtis and Florida State's Morgane Metraux are tied for second at even par.
In the team competition, Florida has a two stroke lead on the field at 297, with Florida State (299), Purdue and Ohio State (302) and Texas A&M (308) making up the top five.
The second round of the three-round competition will continue on Tuesday off Ohio State's Scarlet Course. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStatResults.com.
