NCAA East Preliminaries wrap up Saturday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Memphis' Davon DeMoss kept his hopes alive for a spot in the NCAA Championships Friday when he advanced to the men's 200 meters quarterfinal round at the NCAA East Preliminaries.

DeMoss placed 18^th (20.73) in the men's 200 meters first round. The event's top-24 finishers moved on to Saturday's quarterfinal.

NCAA East Preliminaries/Day Two Highlights

Prior to his 200 meters run, Davon DeMoss finished 19^th in the men's 100 meters (10.46). He missed advancing to the NCAA Championships in the event by .06 seconds.
Freshman Cera Chavez did not post advancing times in the 100 (11.78) and 200 (23.41) meters. She just missed moving on to Saturday's 200 meters quarterfinal by .05 seconds.
Freshman Adam Neelly had his second-best throw of the outdoor season in the shot put Friday. His 56-3.75 (17.16m) throw was second to his 57-7.75 (17.57m) mark set at the Memphis Invitational Apr. 29.

In addition to running in the 200 meters quarterfinal, Davon DeMoss has a leg on the men's 4x400 meter relay. The men's 4x400 meter relay is the final event of the NCAA East Preliminaries at 8:45 p.m. (CT).
The Tigers women's 4x400 meter relay, which includes Cera Chavez, also runs Saturday night at 8:25 p.m. (CT).
Chardae Greenlee (women's triple jump), Rafael Vallery (men's discus) and Jordan Wesner (men's high jump) all compete Saturday.
