Drew Kyser Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

MEMPHIS – Junior center Drew Kyser was named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, Monday. Kyser was one of seven centers from the American Athletic Conference to earn a spot on the Spring Watch List (Full List available here).
A junior from Opelika, Ala., Kyser graduated from high school a semester early to join the Tiger roster, enabling him to earn playing time right away as a true freshman in 2015. After playing in the season-opener off the bench, Kyser stepped in and started at center for the remaining 12 games of the year, helping the Tigers to a Birmingham Bowl Appearance just up the road from his hometown.
Last year, Kyser started all 13 games at center, helping on an offensive line unit that ranked 28th in the country in total offense (463.7 yards per game) and 14th in passing offense with 304.4 yards per game. The Tigers made a second straight bowl appearance since Kyser's arrival, playing in the Boca Raton Bowl.
In all, Kyser has appeared in 26 straight games heading in to his junior season. He is one of four returning starters on the Memphis offensive line (joined by senior Gabe Kuhn, junior Trevon Tate and sophomore Dustin Woodard).
Memphis opens its 2017 fall camp on Thursday, July 27th and opens its second season under head coach Mike Norvell on Aug. 31st against Louisiana-Monroe. The Tigers will open their American Athletic Conference schedule the following week on the road at UCF on Sept. 9th.
Season tickets for the seven-game home stand are on sale now at www.gotigersgo.com/football tickets. Tickets for the 2017 campaign, which includes home games against UCLA and Navy, start at just $130 (or $115 for Tiger Scholarship Fund members with a minimum donation of $100). Fans who purchase or renew their season tickets by June 10th will receive the newly-formatted game book set of tickets, which will include a free clear bag (12" x 12" x 5") that complies with the Liberty Bowl's new clear bag policy that goes in to effect in 2017.
