The AAC Co-Player of the Year is named to the third-team
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis softball player Lindsay Crowdus has been named a College Sports Madness Third-Team All-American Wednesday after her record-setting senior season in 2017. Crowdus was also coined the AAC Co-Player of the Year, marking a first for the Memphis program.
Â
Crowdus' stellar season ended with a school record .451 batting average with a team-high 83 hits, nine triples, 30 RBI and 33 stolen bases. She is the first player in school history to hit over .400 and record over 70 hits. She leaves Memphis as the career batting average leader at .359, the career hits leader at 237, and the career stolen base leader at 64.
Â
As a team, the Tigers continued to make history this season by reaching the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Softball Championship for the first time. After falling to USF in all three games of the regular season, Memphis defeated the Bulls in a 7-0 shutout to advance. Crowdus led the Tigers in the game with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate with two runs scored, two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.
Â
Under the direction of head coach Natalie Poole, the Tigers finished with a 29-27 overall record which marks the second most wins in program history.
Â
Crowdus and the Tigers will now wait for the release Thursday of potential postseason honors with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region selections. For more information on the Memphis softball team, follow the Tigers on Facebook and Twitter at @MemphisSoftball.
