Fletcher Finishes in Top 25 at NCAA Regional

Sophomore finishes tied for 22nd in regional.
MEMPHIS – University of Memphis sophomore women's golfer Michaela Fletcher finished her season with a top 25 finish at the NCAA Columbus Regional, carding a third round 71 (-1) to finish tied for 22nd at 225.
Starting on hole 10 for a second straight day, Fletcher bogeyed her first hole of the day, but birdied 13 and eagled 14 to move to -2 five holes in to her final round. She doubled 17 to go back to even, but recovered quickly with a birdie on 18 to close her opening nine holes at -1.
Moving to the front side, Fletcher bogeyed one and three, but then ripped three straight birdies on holes four, five and six to move back to -2 with three holes to go. But a bogey on nine, her final hole of the season, moved her back to -1.
Among individuals not on a team entry advancing to the NCAA Championship round, Fletcher finished eighth.
Florida's Kelly Grassel, the 20th ranked player in the country, and South Carolina's Ana Pelaez finished in a tie for first at 216.
The top six teams in the 18 team regional advance to the NCAA Championship Round from the Columbus Regional as well. Florida (886), South Carolina (886), Florida State (891), Ohio State (893), Purdue (904) and Michigan (908) will advance out of the Columbus Regional.
Fletcher closes her sophomore season with a 73.6 stroke average in 31 competition rounds. In 11 events this season, she posted eight top 20 finishes with three top five finishes. A two-time all-American Athletic Conference honoree, she will be one of seven returning Lady Tigers for head coach Beth Harrelson next season.
