Chris Carrier Named American Hitter of the Week

Senior outfielder smashed two doubles and three homers during the week
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis senior outfielder Chris Carrier has been named the American Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week after smashing two doubles and three home runs during a week that included the first series win over Cincinnati since 2004.
Carrier, who is the Tigers' first player of the week honoree this season, started the week off with a two-run home run against Mississippi State at AutoZone Park before terrorizing Cincinnati during the weekend.
The Christian Brothers High School product started the Cincinnati series with a 2-for-4 game that included another two-run homer. In the second game Carrier went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a pair of walks. In the finale he blasted a game-clinching home run and walked two more times.
Carrier finished the week with a .600 batting average, eight RBI and five runs scored. He walked six times in the four games and struck out just twice.
The Tigers have had at least a player named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll every week but Carrier is the first Memphis player to receive one of the two weekly awards this season.
Carrier was twice named the American Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week as a sophomore in 2015.
