About Memphis (3-4)
- Freshman Katherine Cao is the lone Memphis player looking to extend a winning streak. After winning at five singles at Minnesota, she was unable to finish her match at Ole Miss and now is looking to build her winning streak to two straight. She is second on the team with 12 singles wins on the year, but leads Memphis in dual season singles victories with four.
- Memphis juggled its doubles lineup in the loss at Ole Miss, splitting up seniors Gabrielle Paul and Marta Morga. That duo started 3-0, but then lost two straight before the split. Morga teamed with Hanna Sohn and the duo was tied at 3-3 at three doubles when the point was decided.
- Memphis did not have Hanna Sohn in the lineup in the match against Missouri in Minnesota. That slid the whole lineup up a spot. Sohn was back in the lineup again at Ole Miss, and is now 3-3 at two singles on the year. The junior played a bulk of the year last year at one singles after Anki Wind went out with an injury.
- Memphis has a tough non-conference schedule on tap in head coach Hayden Perez's third season. Memphis has already faced one ranked opponent, falling at Ole Miss in their last outing. Memphis has already faced LSU (No. 37) and Missouri (No. 41) and has an upcoming dates with No. 29 Rice (Mar. 19) and No. 48 Virginia Tech (Mar. 25).
About Jackson State (5-7)
- Jackson State has won three of their last four matches, picking up wins over Grambling State, Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley State at the SWAC Roundup last week. JSU also has wins over Alabama-Huntsville and Mississippi College to its credit so far this season.
- Jackson State advanced to the SWAC Championship game last season, falling 4-2 to Alcorn State in the championship match.
- JSU had three players named to the all-tournament team, but all three graduated at year-end: Anastasia Zviahintseva, Bright Phakamad and Karina Ono. That has JSU coach Lois Alexis with a roster without a single senior for 2016-17.
