Tigers will play two matches in March and three in April
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head coach Richard Mulrooney has announced a five-match spring schedule Wednesday which features two matches in March and three in April. Two of those matches will be played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex, two at the Park Avenue Campus and one at Christian Brothers University.
"The spring provides for a new opportunity for current and new players to improve individually as well build together as a team," said Mulrooney. "The results are always important, but it's even more important to establish a strong core leading into the fall of 2017."
The Tigers will begin play on March 23 at 5 p.m. at Mike Rose against a youth club team from Ireland coming over to compete in the John Talley Classic. Memphis will then return to Mike Rose on March 25 with a 7 p.m. game against Lipscomb.
The three matches in April are on April 1 against Delta State at 3 p.m., April 5 at CBU at 7 p.m., and April 8 against UAB at 2 p.m.
Memphis competed against UAB last fall and defeated the Blazers by a 1-0 margin in Birmingham. Despite falling in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament, UAB picked up a notable win over No. 15 Kentucky in early October.
The 2017 Tigers will feature 12 newcomers including three who have joined Memphis this spring in Ben Roberts, Jordan Parron, and Ian Story. Memphis finished the 2016 season with an 8-8-1 overall record including a 6-2-0 mark at home in Mulrooney's third season at the helm.
