Alexander Named to Weekly Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis junior right-hander Connor Alexander has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll after his bounce-back performance against Illinois State Sunday at FedExPark.
Alexander was brilliant in leading the Tigers to finish off the sweep of the Redbirds, striking out a career high nine batters while allowing just three hits and one walk. He was dominant through the first six innings, allowing just two base runners and retiring 15 straight through the middle innings.
The only trouble Alexander faced all day was in the seventh, when the bases were loaded with two outs. Alexander got out of the seventh-inning jam with a strikeout, the ninth of his day to set a new career high for the Tipton-Rosemark Academy product.
Alexander is the second Tigers pitcher to be named to the weekly honor roll after Drew Crosby received the same recognition last week.
Memphis will hit the road for its first road game and midweek game of the year, traveling to Oxford to play Ole Miss Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Tigers will be back home for the weekend to host Georgia Southern Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
