Tigers Rifle Earns Postseason Accolades

Fister, Clark, Ezell all take home honors.
AKRON, Ohio – University of Memphis' Levi Clark, Amberlie Ezell and Amy Fister all received Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) accolades, the league announced at its championships banquet late Thursday night. The trio combined for four conference postseason awards, marking the fourth-straight year the Tigers took home multiple GARC awards.
The 2017 GARC Championships run Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25. The University of Akron is hosting the league championships.
Fister was selected to the All-GARC second team in smallbore and honorable mention in aggregate, and Clark was an All-GARC honorable mention pick in smallbore. Ezell was named a GARC Scholar Athlete.
For Fister, the smallbore honor was her fourth in the discipline. The senior was All-GARC honorable mention in smallbore from 2014-16. It is the second-consecutive season Fister was named All-GARC honorable mention in aggregate. The conference postseason accolades for Clark and Ezell, both freshmen, are the first of their careers.
Fister, who will represent Memphis in smallbore at the 2017 NCAA Championships in March, led the team in smallbore (580.8) and aggregate (1164.8) this season. She shot over 580 in eight of her 12 appearances in the discipline, including a career-best 585 twice in consecutive matches at both the Ole Miss Open and Tiger Open. She shot a 582 and placed seventh in smallbore at the NCAA Sectional Qualifier.
The Kutztown, Pa., native continued her career improvement in smallbore in 2016-17. She raised her smallbore average (580.8) by over a point from last season (579.6) and over five points from her sophomore average (575.1).
Fister competed in both disciplines in 12 of the team's 13 matches this season. She missed the Jan. 15 match versus Kentucky due to injury. She recorded aggregate scores of 1160 or higher in all 12 matches, including seven performances better than 1165. Fister shot a season-high 1170 at the Tiger Open in early October. She posted a 1163 aggregate at last weekend's NCAA Sectional Qualifier.
In his first collegiate season, Clark was second on the team in smallbore (576.6), air rifle (584.9) and aggregate (1161.5). He posted season-bests in smallbore (584) and aggregate (1171) in an early November match versus West Virginia, and shot a season-high 588 in air rifle against Navy in mid-October.
The Clackamas, Ore., native competed in 12 of the squad's 13 matches in 2016-17. Clark shot 575 or higher in smallbore in seven matches, and he also posted aggregate scores of 1160 or better seven times.
Ezell made 10 appearances in her first collegiate campaign and posted averages of 564.6 in smallbore, 578.9 in air rifle and 1143.5 in aggregate. Ezell's performances improved as the season progressed, raising all three averages since the 2017 calendar year started. Since returning from the semester break, she improved her smallbore average four points (2016: 562.4; 2017: 566.8), air rifle average nine points (2016: 574.5; 2017: 584.2) and aggregate average 15 points (2016: 1136.0; 2017: 1151.0). Ezell set all her season-bests since Jan. 1. She shot a 589 in air rifle versus Kentucky Jan. 15 and posted a 577 smallbore result and a 1159 aggregate score at the Withrow Invitational Jan. 21.
In her first semester, the Portland, Ore., native posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) and earned Dean's List distinction. Ezell also was a member of the Tiger 3.0 Club and Tiger Academic 30, which recognizes the student-athletes with the athletics department's top-30 GPA.
