Women’s Golf Fifth Through Day One at Central District

Madison Thomas birdies three of her final five holes to end day one in top seven.
MEMPHIS – Madison Thomas birdied three of her final five holes and is in the top seven through the first two rounds of the 2017 Central District hosted by Michigan State, Monday. In addition to Thomas' spot in the top 10, Michaela Fletcher also is solidly in the top 20 after a birdie on her final hole of the day. With two in the top 20, Memphis is currently fifth through two rounds after a 301-299 day one.
The Tigers are just one stroke behind North Carolina and four behind Augusta University, currently in third. Number nine ranked Furman leads the field with a 571, following an opening round 282 with a 289.
Senior Leighann Cabush is currently tied for 28th with a 74-78 opening day. Teammate Emily Goldenstein bounced back from a tough opening round, following her round one 82 with a second round 72 to move to just outside the top 30 at 32nd overall.
Freshman Abby Herrmann posted an 81-80 in a trip to her native Florida, and is currently tied for 56th overall.
Louisville's Lauren Hartlage and Furman's Taylor Totland are tied for the individual lead at 140. Totland is one of three Furman players in the top four of the standings at the end of day one at the event.
