Track and Field Announces Early Signing Class
Dec 07, 2017 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
Tigers welcome 11 newcomers next year.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After his squad set two school records at the Dec. 2 season-opening indoor meet, University of Memphis track and field head coach Kevin Robinson has to be excited heading into next semester. Another reason for his enthusiasm is the Tigers' 2018 signing class, the largest group of early signees in program history.
Robinson and his staff hauled in 11 in the early-signing class. The following is Robinson's comments on the class and brief bios on the signees:
Â
Head coach Kevin Robinson
"The early signing period went really well for us. We made around 20 offers, and we were able to reel in 11 of those. The group we signed is very competent. They're going to be able to come in and make an impact right away, and that's what we're looking for. We feel really good about the kids we brought in, but the challenge for me and my staff is not to stop there and continue to go out and get the best possible athletes to come and wear the Tigers uniform.
Â
"We also managed to bring in a couple of mid-year transfers that can step in and do a really good job. I'm really excited about our recruiting, and hopefully, these kids will prove me right."
