Women’s Basketball Welcomes Christian Brothers For Exhibition Game

Tipoff against the Buccaneers is slated for 12 p.m. at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team takes one step closer to the start of the 2017-18 regular season with an exhibition game Saturday against Christian Brothers at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Tipoff against the Buccaneers is set for 12 p.m. and admission is free for all fans.

Memphis opens up the regular season at home on Nov. 10 against Tennessee State. The Tigers' schedule boasts eight non-conference home games, three true road games, and the Play4Kay Showdown in Las Vegas, Nev. over Thanksgiving Break.
Vanderbilt and Illinois, two Power Five schools Memphis defeated in 2016, return to the 2017 schedule. Other familiar foes from 2016 include Little Rock, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Illinois.
Memphis returns two all-conference players in Cheyenne Creighton and Brea Elmore along with 2016-17 starters Breigha Wilder-Cochran and Taylor Barnes. Creighton led the Tigers in scoring last season with 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and Elmore finished with a career-high 13.0 points per game.
This season, the Tigers welcome five additions in juco transfer Jasmine James, freshmen Alana Davis, Finess Dickson, and Jada Stinson, and Division I transfer Manaya Jones to the roster. Jones will have to sit the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
A Look At Christian Brothers
Christian Brothers, a member of Division II's Gulf South Conference, finished the 2016-17 season with a 13-14 overall record and a 10-12 mark in conference play. The Buccaneers saw their season come to a close in the quarterfinals of the GSC Championships to No. 24 West Florida by a score of 65-52.
Two of the top three scorers from a year ago return to this season's squad in Courtney Banks and Rachel Lee. The Lady Bucs graduated Samantha Reeves, the team's leading scorer last year at 17.8 points per game.
The Lady Bucs are under the direction of Sarah Condra who is entering into her sixth season at the helm. Condra is a former Lady Buc herself as she competed for Christian Brothers from 1999-2004.
