Miller Named Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist
Nov 13, 2017 | Football
MEMPHIS – Senior wide receiver Anthony Miller has been named a 2017 Biletnikoff Award semifinalist it was announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Monday. The senior is one of 10 semifinalists for the award presented annually to college football's outstanding receiver at any position.
Miller recently became the University of Memphis' all-time leading receiver in a win over Tulane and enters Saturday's match-up with SMU with 3,033 receiving yards and 30 receiving touchdowns, both Memphis records. He needs just four more catches to become the program's all-time leader in that category as well.
So far this season, Miller has 67 catches for 905 yards and 11 touchdowns. He needs just 95 yards to become the first Tiger in school history to have multiple 1,000 yard receiving seasons. As of now, just he and NFL star Isaac Bruce have recorded 1,000 yard receiving seasons for the Tigers.
In the single game record book, Miller also holds Memphis marks for most pass receptions (15), most yards receiving (250) and most touchdown receptions (4). Last week, he was also named a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding football player in American who began his career as a walk-on.
Miller is one of two players from the American Athletic Conference to make the semifinalist list. SMU's Trey Quinn also made the cut to 10 semifinalists.
The two players will be on the same field this Saturday at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, when Memphis faces SMU at 11:00 a.m. (CT) in a West Division game that will also be shown on ESPNews. Tickets for that game are available at www.gotigersgotix.com.
