LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Memphis women's basketball was unable to overcome an early push by the Little Rock Trojans and ultimately fell by a score of 86-57 Sunday afternoon. The Tigers move to 1-1 on the year with another road trip on the horizon next Thursday against Louisiana Tech.
Â
How It Happened
Little Rock opened the game on a 7-2 run with the lone Memphis basket belonging to Cheyenne Creighton. The Tigers cut the Little Rock lead to two with 3:53 in the first on a Creighton jumper.
Â
The Trojans responded with a 17-9 run to go up 10 halfway through the second quarter. A three-pointer at the end of the first half ultimately gave Little Rock a 13-point lead over Memphis. Creighton led the Tigers at the break with 13 points while Jasmine James had five rebounds.
Â
A 12-0 run by the Trojans to open the second half built Little Rock's lead to 25 and put the game out of reach of the Tigers. Creighton finished the contest with a career-high 28 points and James led Memphis with seven rebounds.
Â
Turning Point
A 17-8 run by Little Rock from the end of the first quarter into the second put the Trojans up by double-digits. The Tigers ultimately cut the Little Rock lead down to nine on multiple occasions in the first half, but that proved to be as close as Memphis would come. Â

Notables
Melissa McFerrin Quotable
"That's a typical Little Rock team. They put it to us today. I thought we made some young mistakes, some passing mistakes. They move well in transition and made us pay."
Â
