Tigers to play two rounds of doubles Friday morning, followed by one round of singles.

MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's tennis team is back on the court in competition beginning Friday at the Samford Fall Invitational in Birmingham.

The tournament will begin Friday with two rounds of doubles play. Hanna Sohn and Laura Bente will play in the A doubles flight and will open against the Southern Miss team of Lara Isis De Oliveira and Tjase Jerse at 8:30 a.m. The second round of doubles will then be played at 9:15.

In B doubles, Tigers Lina Hohnhold and Josephine Cao will team together to face the Tulane tandem of Sade Atkinson and Sofia Kurtz, also at 8:30 am. The final doubles draw will feature Memphis' Claire Sullivan and Katherine Cao. That tandem will face the home-standing team of Savannah Wood and Elsa Pool from Samford, also at 8:30 a.m.

After two rounds of doubles, the tournament will move in to singles play at approximately 11 a.m. Hanna Sohn will face Tulane's Laura Fabrizi in the A singles flight. Laura Bente has drawn Tanit Lopez from Southern Miss in her opening B singles match, while Lina Hohnold will face another Tulane opponent, Elena Muller, in the first round of C singles.

In the D singles, Katherine Cao will face Samford's Arianna Beltrame at 12:45 pm, Friday, while Claire Sullivan starts her run in the E singles flight at the same time against another Samford foe – Savannah Wood.

Josephine Cao will round out the Memphis singles lineup. She will open her single competition on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Samford's Nadine de Villiers. On Saturday at 1:30, she will face Middle Tennessee's Josefina Zehnder and on Sunday at 10:15 am, she will complete her trio of matches against Samford's Grace Jennings.
