Bawden Third at Quail Valley Collegiate

Memphis finished tied for ninth
Junior Brad Bawden shot a 54-hole total of 204 (-12) and finished third at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla. Monday and Tuesday. The Memphis men's golf team finished the event tied for ninth with Louisiana Monroe, while USF took home the team title.

Bawden, a native of Hockley, England, followed an opening round 68 with a 66 in the second round and finished with a 70 on Tuesday. The top-20 finish is Bawden's third of the season and his first top-10 finish this season.

Chase Harris shot a first-round 72 and finished with a 69 in both the second and third rounds to finish tied for 15th. Harris, a Jackson, Tenn. product, fired six-under for the tournament and the top-20 finish was the first of his career.

Rodi Vlasveld, from Haarlem, Netherlands, started the tournament with a 67 but fired a 76 in the second round and a 75 in the third to end with a three-round 218, tied for 53rd.

Borja Martin (San Sebastian, Spain) improved from a first-round 78 to shoot a 70 in the second round a 71 in Tuesday's third round to finish 55th.

Colin Dubnik, a native of Rochester, N.Y., was the team's final individual finisher with rounds of 74, 79 and 82 for a three-round 235, tying for 74th.

Louisiana Tech's Felix Palson was the top finisher in the tournament, shooting 67-68-67-202 (-14). Rounding out the top-five team finishes behind USF were Michigan State, Louisville, Notre Dame and Maryland. The Tigers finished ahead of Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Louisiana Tech, Nebraska and Southern Mississippi.

Memphis will end the fall schedule at the Kiawah Classic at Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C. Oct. 29-31.
