Women’s Golf Finishes Tied for Sixth at Cardinal Cup

Three Lady Tigers in the top 20.
MEMPHIS – The Memphis women's golf team fired a third round 305 and finished in a tie for sixth out of 15 teams at the Louisville Cardinal Cup, Sunday. The Lady Tigers pulled in to a tie with Virginia Tech to finish tied at 901 for the two-day event.
Michaela Fletcher jumped 19 spots from day one to day two of the event, firing a 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for 13th overall at 224 (+8). Senior Emily Goldenstein finished a stroke back at 225 and in a tie for 19th overall, as did Sydney Colwill.
Madison Thomas was Memphis' final counting score in the event, firing a 75 on Sunday to finish at 229 (+13), good for a tie for 34th overall.
Sophomore Abby Herrmann finished in a tie for 79th to wrap up the Memphis entries.
Host Louisville grabbed an eight stroke win in the team event, with an 877. Illinois was second at 885 and Wisconsin finished third at 892. East Carolina and Kent State tied for fourth at 895 ahead of Virginia Tech and Memphis.
Louisville's Lauren Hartlage grabbed individual medalist honors with a 206 (-10), as 12 stroke win over second place Dorthea Forbrigd of East Carolina.
Memphis will close out its fall slate with a trip to Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 31 and November 1.
