Volleyball To Face Tulane Tuesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team won't receive its normal mid-week rest from competition, as the Tigers play a rescheduled match against Tulane Tuesday, Oct. 17. Match time is 1 p.m. (CT) in New Orleans, La.

Tigers Tidbits

Memphis leads the all-time series 29-19 and has won eight of the last nine. The Tigers had an eight-match win streak in the series, before the Green Wave ended it last season with a 3-0 victory in New Orleans Nov. 11, 2016.
Tuesday's match at Tulane is a "make-up" from the originally-scheduled match Oct. 8. The match was postponed due to the landfall of Hurricane Nathan that weekend. It was the first time Memphis had a match postponed or cancelled since 2005. That season, Hurricane Rita initially forced the postponement of matches versus Houston (in Houston) and Rice (in Memphis). Later, those matches were not rescheduled.
The mid-week match – although a rescheduled one – is the first for the Tigers since the end of the 2015 season. At the end of that campaign, Memphis wrapped up its conference schedule on the Wednesday and Friday surrounding Thanksgiving. And, Memphis' last mid-week opponent: Tulane. The Tigers posted a 3-0 win over the Green Wave Nov. 25, 2015 (Wednesday before Thanksgiving).
With the rescheduled match versus Tulane, Memphis now plays five matches in a span of 10 days. The Tigers hosted Tulsa Oct. 13 and SMU Oct. 15 and faces Tulane Tuesday. Memphis then welcomes ECU Oct. 20 and Cincinnati Oct. 22 to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
