Dorceus and Ferguson Pick up Additional Weekly Honors

MEMPHIS – Seniors Doroland Dorceus and Riley Ferguson added some more awards from last week's win at UConn. Dorceus was named an honorable mention honoree for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose national player of the week award, while Ferguson was named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association Offensive Player of the Week. Ferguson was also named a Great 8 honoree by the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award and was named one of the Manning Stars of the Week for his seven-touchdown performance at UConn last week.
Dorceus rushed 22 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the win at UConn last week. He also added two catches for 28 yards in the win. The 100-plus yard rushing game was the fourth of his career and the first of the season, while the two rushing touchdowns tied his career high. In his Memphis career, Dorceus now has 2,015 career rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns. He has also caught 26 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns.
Ferguson is coming off his second American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award after his second career 400-plus yard passing game at UConn. The senior quarterback completed touchdown passes to four different players in the win at UConn, including four to wide receiver Anthony Miller. Ferguson now ranks fourth in career passing at Memphis in just 18 career games with 5,233 yards. His 48 career touchdowns trails Danny Wimprine (81) and Paxton Lynch (59).
Memphis is now preparing to host No. 24/25 ranked Navy, Saturday, at 2:45 p.m. (CT) in a game that will be televised on ESPNU. Tickets for the afternoon contest remain on sale at www.GoTigersGo.com/FootballTickets.
