Fletcher Posts Top Five Finish at South Africa Event

Sophomore is top-finishing amateur at Sunshine Ladies Tour event.
MEMPHIS – Redshirt sophomore women's golfer Michaela Fletcher returned home to South Africa and had a strong showing in an event on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, finishing fourth overall and as the top-finishing amateur (of 16) in the SuperSport Ladies Challenge at Huddle Park Golf Club.
After an opening round 73 and a second round 72, Fletcher carded a final round 69 to finish at 214, good for fourth overall in an event that featured a number of professional women's golfers.
Fletcher missed last season at Memphis due to injury, but in 2015, as a freshman, won her way all the way through to the NCAA Championship round. She returned to the course this fall and carded four top 15 and one top five finish in five falls events, including a fall-best finish of third in the Memphis Intercollegiate with a 220 back in October.
The women's golf team is currently on its semester break, but will return to classes on Tuesday, Jan. 17th. Fletcher and her Lady Tiger teammates will begin their spring season in February at Michigan State's 2017 Central District at the St. Lucie Trail Golf Course in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
