Arthur Maulet added to the roster, Friday.
MEMPHIS – A pair of former Memphis football players will be playing Saturday in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. Place-kicker Jake Elliott has gone through the full week of workouts and practice with the staff at the Senior Bowl, while Arthur Maulet, who played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl last weekend, was added to the roster on Friday.
Elliott recently put the wraps on a Memphis career and leaves the Tigers as the program's all-time leading scorer, a four-time, first team all-conference honoree, a two-time American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and as a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
He went 202-for-202 in point after attempts in his collegiate career and helped a Memphis kick-off cover unit rank second in the country in kickoff return defense in 2016, allowing just 16.04 yards per return. His 64 touchbacks were second in the country and his 81 career field goals ranked third among the active NCAA leaders at the end the season. He helped Memphis successfully recover two on-side kicks in 2016 and holds the Memphis record for four of the five longest field goals in school history.
Elliott has also accepted an invitation to participate in the NFL Combine, Feb. 28-Mar. 6.
Maulet played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl game last weekend, finishing with three tackles, after spending a week in California training with the staffs there. He played in all 26 games at Memphis after transferring to the Tigers in August of 2015. He helped Memphis to back-to-back bowl appearances and a 17-9 record over two seasons. He finished his Tiger career with 111 total tackles, including 92 solo stops. He added 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 24 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.
This is the first time since 2006 (DeAngelo Williams, Stephen Gostkowski) that Memphis has had a player in Senior Bowl festivities. The game will be played at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and will air on the NFL Network.
