Tigers Track And Field Wraps Up Action At Vanderbilt Invitational

Memphis has five top-10 performances Saturday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Chardae Greenlee placed fifth in the women's triple jump and sophomore Olushola Olojo also was fifth in the men's triple jump to pace the Tigers' second-day action at the Vanderbilt Invitational Saturday. Greenlee and Olojo posted two of Memphis' five top-10 performances.
The other three top-10 finishes were turned in by Adam Neelly (eighth) and Luke Vaughn (ninth) in the men's shot put and Ashley Pryke (eighth) in the women's shot put.
This weekend's meet was the Tigers' first competition since the Dec. 3 Vanderbilt Opener. Memphis was off 47 days from competition for fall semester final exams and the Christmas/New Year's holidays.
The Vanderbilt Invitational was a team non-scoring meet.

Vanderbilt Invitational/Day Two Highlights
- Sophomore Davon DeMoss ran in his first men's 60m of the season and posted a time of 6.85.
- Sophomore Naaman Norment recorded an indoor personal-best 1:54.87 in the men's 800m. He finished 13th in the Saturday's event.
- Junior Brock Ballard ran a personal-best 8:37.27 in the men's 3000m Saturday. His previous best was 8:47.69 at last year's American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
- Junior Savannah Smith ran an indoor personal-best of 2:24.15 in the women's 800m. Her previous indoor best was 2:26.53 set at the 2015 Missouri Tiger Invitational her freshman campaign.
- Sophomore Ashley Pryke set an indoor personal-best in the shot put with her 43-4.25 (13.21m) toss. Saturday's throw surpassed her previous best of 40-5.5 (12.33m) set at the 2016 Southeast Missouri Redhawks Invitational.
- Senior Martina Rodriguez Sala, who earned All-American Athletic Conference and All-NCAA South Region honors during the 2016 cross country season, ran in her first event of the indoor season Saturday. She posted a time of 9:46.15 and placed 12th in the women's 3000m. Last season, Rodriguez Sala set the school record in the women's indoor 3000m.
