Wesner Leads Tigers Track And Field Friday

Action at Vanderbilt Invitational continues Saturday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Jordan Wesner placed fourth in the men's high jump to lead the Tigers' effort in first-day action at the Vanderbilt Invitational Friday. Wesner was one of four top-10 performances for Memphis.
The two-day Vanderbilt Invitational continues Saturday with 23 events. The action starts at 10:30 a.m. (CT) with the women's pole vault. Only 13 events were held Friday.
Friday's meet was the Tigers' first competition since the Dec. 3 Vanderbilt Opener. Memphis was off 47 days from competition for fall semester final exams and the Christmas/New Year's holidays.
The Vanderbilt Invitational is a team non-scoring meet.

Vanderbilt Invitational/Day One Highlights
- Sophomore Jordan Wesner's 7-0.5 (2.15m) mark was 0.5 inches shy of tying his indoor personal-best. Wesner jumped 7-1 (2.16m) at the 2016 Arkansas State Invitational.
- Sophomore Saida Burns-Moore improved her mark in the women's high jump. Burns-Moore jumped 5-5.25 (1.66m) after posting a 5-5 (1.65m) mark in the Dec. 3 Vanderbilt Opener. She placed ninth in the women's high jump Friday.
- Junior Rebeka Holt ran in the women's 200m for the first time in her career (25.27).
- Freshman Lennard Biere made his collegiate debut in the long jump and placed ninth with a mark of 23-2.5 (7.07m).
- The Tigers men's and women's distance teams ran for the first time this season. The distance squads sat out the Dec. 3 Vanderbilt Opener. On Friday, Brady Steele competed in the men's 5000m (12th; 16:55.86) and the women's distance medley relay placed fifth (12:04.4).
