Markel Crawford Named to American Athletic Conference Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Memphis redshirt junior Markel Crawford has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Crawford averaged a team-best 20.0 points per game on the week, which is equal to what his previous career-high was. He also averaged six rebounds, two assists, and two steals per game. He shot 56 percent from the field for the week (14-of-25), 40 percent from long range (2-of-5), and 83 percent from the charity stripe (10-of-12).
In the first game of the week against SMU, he scored 12 points while pulling down five rebounds, and adding three assists and three steals. He hit 5-of-12 shots overall, including 2-of-3 from long range.
In the final game of the week against 25th ranked (ESPN Coaches Poll) South Carolina, he scored a career-high 28 points, hitting 9-of-13 shots from the field, including each of his last five attempts, and was a perfect 4-of-4 in the second half. He also set a career-high with 10 made free throws on 12 attempts. His seven rebounds in a game tied a season-high.
For the season Crawford is averaging 14.k5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, hitting 51 percent from the field (72-of-141), 33 percent (17-of-51) from long range, and a team-best 79.2 percent (42-of-53) from the charity stripe.
The Tigers have another two-game week upcoming, hosting the UConn Huskies at FedExForum on Thursday, January 5, and then taking the road to New Orleans for a January 8 battle against the Tulane Green Wave.
