Sep 27, 2016 | Women's Basketball
Tigers will have 12 broadcasted games, spanned across six different networks
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The American Athletic Conference has announced its complete broadcast schedule for the 2016-17 basketball season. The University of Memphis women's basketball team will have 12 games broadcasted including one on ESPN2, two on ESPNU and four on ESPN3.
Â
"This is probably the most challenging schedule that we have had in nine years," said head coach Melissa McFerrin. "Additionally, with three National ESPN telecasts, an additional regional telecast and six additional games on a national digital platform, it is also likely the most exposure our program has had during that same time span.  We have a tremendous opportunity for our team to showcase their abilities and for our fans and prospects to follow our program."
Â
Memphis had 12 games broadcasted last season, all but two of those games were on ESPN3 or the ADN.
Â
The league will produce 21 women's basketball conference games throughout the season on the American Digital Network, including three in which Memphis will be competing in. ADN games will air on www.TheAmerican.org/dn free of charge. The three Memphis games on the ADN are at Tulsa on Jan. 4, vs. Houston on Jan. 25, and at SMU on Jan. 31.
Â
In addition to live game coverage, a weekly halftime show with highlights, features and interviews with coaches and players from around the league will be produced and aired from the conference studio in Providence, R.I. Games on the ADN will be available on all mobile, tablet and desktop devices as well as on the conference's official Roku app.
Â
The Tigers begin their television schedule at home on Dec. 28, when Memphis hosts Vanderbilt on ESPNU. The game against the Commodores is the only non-conference game on TV for the Tigers. Memphis won its first ESPNU broadcasted contest last season against Tulane at home.
Â
Immediately following the Vanderbilt game, the Tigers will host Temple in the conference opener at Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Jan. 1, 2017. The game against the Owls will be on ESPN2. This will be the first game on ESPN2 since the 2001 season and all-time, Memphis is 3-1 in games televised on ESPN2.
Â
Against USF in Tampa on Jan. 21, the Tigers and the Bulls will be broadcasted on the CBS Sports Network. The other match-up against USF in Memphis is the other slated ESPNU contest on Feb. 5.
Â
The four ESPN3 games for Memphis are at Temple on Jan. 21, at Tulane on Feb. 9, at Cincinnati on Feb. 18 and at home against Tulane in the regular season finale on Feb. 27. The game against UConn in Storrs, Conn. on Feb. 25 will be on SportsNet New York (SNY).
Â
The games available on The American Digital Network are in addition to the games telecasted by the American Athletic Conference's partners at ESPN and CBS Sports Network. All games aired on an ESPN network will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. All additional home games not broadcasted by ESPN or the ADN will be streamed live on www.gotigersgo.com.Â
