Women’s Tennis Closes Mizzou Invitational With Wins on Sunday

Wind goes 3-0 in singles over the weekend.

MEMPHIS – The Memphis women's tennis team wrapped up its first fall event on Sunday at the Mizzou Invitational. Junior Anki Wind came back from a 6-0 first set loss to claim her third straight singles win, 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4) over Nebraska's Claire Reifies, while Marta Morga came back from a second set loss for a tiebreak winner of her own, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (8). Gabrielle Paul also added a singles win against a Nebraska foe, downing M'Balia Bangoura, 6-1, 6-4. Frsehman Katherine Cao also added a singles win to complete her first collegiate weekend, 6-1, 7-5, over Mary Hanna.

In doubles play, Memphis faced opponents from Louisville, going 1-2 in the three matches. The Tiger team of Hanna Sohn and Josephine Cao won 6-3.

The team will be back in action again this weekend at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. The Samford event runs three days, starting Friday.
