Sep 19, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Tigers to open the fall at Missouri this weekend.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's tennis team will compete in five regional level events this fall in preparation for the 2017 spring dual season.
The team will open its competition slate this weekend at the Mizzou Hidden Duals in Kansas City, starting Friday and running through Sunday.
On Friday, Memphis will face Louisville in doubles play at 9 a.m., then will face Nebraska in doubles at 10 a.m. Singles play will begin at 1 p.m. with Tigers from Memphis playing Tigers from Missouri. The same four teams will rotate through singles and doubles play, allowing coaches to mix doubles tandems and singles players without the match counting against a team result.
The schedule will continue next weekend at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham in a three-day event in Birmingham starting on Sept. 30th.
The Tigers will get a break and more preparation time before participating in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, Oct. 20-24th at Middle Tennessee, then will have another short turnaround before going to Tuscaloosa to play in the Alabama Invitational.
The fall schedule will end the same way it started, in a hidden dual event at the University of Louisville, Nov. 4-6th.
