Women’s Golf Cards Third Round 299 at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

Michaela Fletcher leads the team in her first tournament back.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team carded a third round 299 and finished 14th with a three-round score of 904 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville.
Redshirt sophomore Michaela Fletcher, in her first tournament back after missing a year due to injury, led Memphis with a 222 after a third round 75. She tied for 38th overall.
Teammates Leighann Cabush and Madison Thomas tied for 58th overall at 227. Cabush shaved four strokes off her first two round scores, recording a 73 on Tuesday, while Thomas followed her career-low round of 69 on Monday afternoon with a Tuesday 77.
Sydney Colwill and Emily Goldenstein also tied, finishing in a tie for 71st overall at 233. Colwill posted her best round of the event with a 74, while Goldenstein closed the tournament with a third round 78.
Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong won individual medalist honors with a 205 (-8), one of two Kent State players to finish in the top five. Panthong's 54-hole total set a new tournament record in the win.
Florida, who finished as the number seven ranked team in the country last year, captured the tournament title with an 850 (-2). Illinois and Kent State each finished five strokes behind Florida, while BYU (864) and Tennessee (865) rounded out the top five.
Memphis will next be in action at another SEC-hosted tournament, participating in the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, Oct. 3-4. The Lady Tigers will then host their lone home event of the season on Oct. 17-18, the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate, at Ridgeway Country Club.
