Women's Golf Looking to Make Tuesday Charge

Lady Tigers looking to even out scoring in final round of season-opening competition.
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis women's golf team heads to Tuesday's third round at the Mercedez-Benz Collegiate Championship looking to even out its scoring in the final round of the season-opening competition.
Memphis, currently 13th in the team standings with a 36-hole 600, got consistent scoring rounds from Emily Goldenstein , Leighann Cabush and Sydney Colwill, but is looking to make a Tuesday charge off some late round momentum.
Goldenstein carded a 74 and a 76 in her first two rounds, while Cabush carded a pair of 77s in the and Colwill carded an 80 and a 79 in her first competitive rounds of her sophomore season. Teammate Madison Thomas bounced back from an opening round 81 with a second round 69 and will look to continue her charge Tuesday morning in the final round. The 69 is a collegiate career low round for Thomas, who is tied with Goldenstein for 51st overall in the field.
Seeing her first college competitive rounds since her freshman season in 2014-15, Michaela Fletcher had worked her way to the top 10 in the late stages of the second round when the par-three 12th hole tripped up the redshirt sophomore. Fletcher opened her second round with a birdie on 16 and was still even 14 holes later approaching the 12th hole. Leaving the 12th hole, the South Africa native was +4 and finished her round +5 and tied for 34th overall.
Memphis will tee off its final round at 9 a.m. (ET). Fletcher will go off hole 14, while Goldenstein starts at 15, Cabush and Thomas off 16 and Colwill off 17.
Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong leads the individual standings with a 135 (67-68) -7 through two rounds, while Illinois leads the team competition with a 563 (+1), six strokes ahead of Kent State.
